Case Studies - Real Stories of Healing and Freedom

These are the experiences of real people who once felt trapped by trauma, anxiety, depression or the lingering effects of painful events—big or small. Like you, they had tried other approaches, carried their stories for years, or simply didn’t believe full resolution was possible.

Each case study below has been shared with permission and reflects the diverse backgrounds, ages and types of trauma that TCSP™ successfully resolves.

If you see yourself in any of these stories, know that the same possibility of freedom is available to you.

Alice 25 - Sexual Assault

Name: Alice
Age: 25
Gender Identification: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
TCSP™ Date: August 2018

Issues:

Alice was a victim of 2 separate, one-off, instances of sexual assault when she 14 and then again at 20 years old. Her general mental health had decreased from these experiences. She is plagued with anxiety, intrusive thoughts and a distrust of men. She is practising yoga and meditation and was seeing a psychologist on a regular basis since the age of 14. She had self-harmed by abusing drugs quite heavily but was able to stop that, but the urges to do drugs again plagued her. She was plagued with thoughts about cutting herself with these thoughts intensifying during times of stress and anxiety.

Prior to the TCSP™, alongside detailed history taking and various assessments via psychometric testing and schema testing, Alice was asked to give each one of these issues and her symptoms a subjective rating (out of ten). She was asked to note how often, and how severe these thoughts and feelings were over the 4 weeks prior to the TCSP™. This, alongside the results of the psychometric testing, served as a baseline of the severity of her symptoms, issues and to measure the success of the TCSP™.

Self-Reported Symptoms, Challenges and Self-Limiting Beliefs:

  • Anxiety and generally untrusting of men that she didn’t know well

  • Paranoia that men would sexually assault her, especially when on dates

  • A general aversion to her sexuality and urges, even though she wanted to find a

    romantic partner

  • Felt stuck in life. ‘I feel unable to move forward in life’

  • Difficulty in maintaining and expressing her boundaries

  • Generalised anxiety which started after the first instance of sexual assault at 14

  • Feelings of prolonged sadness, hopelessness, unexplained crying, loss of energy and

general interest in life and fun activities.

  • Comfort eating at times of stress or feeling ‘low’

  • Self-harming (thoughts about cutting and the desire to start excessive drug use again)

Goals of Treatment:

• Empower her to find a romantic partner free of paranoia and anxiety

• Reconnect to her sexuality

• To move forward in life with optimism

• Put an end to her generalised anxiety and find a sense of calm

• Deal with the overwhelming nature of her emotions and intrusive thoughts

• Stop all thoughts and desires to self-harm and put an end to comfort eating

• Motivate her to go deeper with her practises of yoga and meditation

Success of TCSP™

The TCSPTM has successfully achieved Alice’s stated goals of her treatment.

The severity of all her symptoms and associated feelings were decreased dramatically to 0 out of 10. Her words in response to the unhealthy emotions, anxiety, thoughts etc. after experiencing were ’that’s completely gone’, ‘that doesn’t feel like it will affect me anymore’, ’If I think back to the times I was assaulted I don’t have any bad thoughts or feelings, they feel like they are both behind me now and I can move on with my life’ and ‘I feel a sense of calm I haven’t ever felt before’.

Update:

At the time of writing this case study, it has been over 3 years since Alice experienced TCSP™. She reports that all of the changes are still lasting. She is dating again without anxiety or paranoia. She claims she is able to clearly and confidently voice and enforce her boundaries. She still feels calm, able to handle her emotions, stressful situations and people from a more empowered place. She hasn’t thought about self- harming, or using drugs again and has managed to get a handle on her comfort eating. She is optimistic about her future and stated that she rarely, if ever, thinks about the traumatic events of her past, and if/when she does, they don’t cause her any emotional distress.

She continues to practise yoga and meditation and has felt no need to see her psychologist since doing TCSP™.

Dean 32 - Extensive Childhood Physical Abuse

Name: Dean
Age: 32
Gender Identification: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
TCSP™ Date: March 2024
Issues:

Dean experienced repeated physical abuse throughout his childhood from the ages of 6 to 15, primarily at the hands of his father. The abuse included being hit with belts, fists, and objects, often in front of siblings, and was accompanied by intense verbal humiliation. As an adult, Dean struggled with deep-seated anger, hypervigilance, chronic muscle tension, and a belief that the world was fundamentally unsafe. He had difficulty trusting others, avoided conflict (yet felt rage just below the surface), and described himself as “always waiting for the next hit — even when there isn’t one.”

He had been in talk therapy on and off for eight years and found it helpful for understanding the past but not for feeling different in the present. He experienced regular nightmares, sudden outbursts of anger (especially toward authority figures), and a persistent sense that he had to remain “on guard” at all times. Prior to TCSP™, Dean completed detailed history taking, psychometric testing (including PTSD, anxiety, and depression scales), and schema assessment. He was asked to give each key issue and symptom cluster a subjective rating out of 10 based on frequency and intensity over the previous four weeks. These ratings, along with formal test results, provided a clear baseline for measuring change.

Self-Reported Symptoms, Challenges and Self-Limiting Beliefs:
  • Constant background hyper-vigilance and feeling “on edge” (9/10)
  • Nightmares and flashbacks of childhood beatings (7–8/10)
  • Uncontrollable anger and irritability, especially toward men in authority (8/10)
  • Deep belief “I am not safe” and “People who love you will hurt you” (10/10)
  • Chronic muscle tension, jaw clenching, and tension headaches (8/10)
  • Avoidance of conflict combined with explosive outbursts when pushed (8/10)
  • Difficulty trusting others and forming close relationships (9/10)
  • Persistent shame and feeling “damaged” or “weak” because he couldn’t protect himself as a child (9/10)
  • Low motivation, feeling stuck in life, and a sense of “I’ll never be free of this” (8/10)
Goals of treatment:
  • Feel safe in his own body and in the world for the first time
  • Resolve the stored trauma so nightmares and flashbacks stop
  • Release the constant anger and hypervigilance
  • Replace core beliefs of danger and shame with safety and self-worth
  • Be able to form trusting, healthy relationships (including romantic)
  • Move through life with calm confidence instead of waiting for the next threat
Success of TRTP™

All of Dean’s stated goals were fully achieved. Within three sessions of TRTP™, every symptom cluster dropped to 0/10 and remained there.

His own words at the completion of the process:
“It’s gone. The rage, the waiting for something bad to happen - it’s just gone. I can think about what happened when I was a kid and it feels like someone else’s memory - no charge, no tightening in my chest. I feel solid. Like I’m finally standing on ground that won’t move under me.”

Update (18 months post-TRTP™, September 2025):

Dean reports that the changes have remained stable. Nightmares have never returned. He describes a deep sense of physical calm he has never experienced before - “My shoulders aren’t up around my ears anymore.” He is now in a healthy, loving relationship and says he can trust and be vulnerable without fear. Work conflicts no longer trigger rage; instead, he responds assertively and calmly. He has taken up strength training and feels strong in a positive way rather than using it as armour. He has not required ongoing therapy since completing TRTP™ and describes his life as “open, and calm”
